The BGYL has three programs that run from the last week of March through the 2nd week of June for players from Pre-K-8th grade. No prior lacrosse experience is required.

Pre-K/K Programs:

Players in Pre-K/K participate in a co-ed clinic program operated by Scoops Lacrosse Inc.

Classic League:

Grades 1-8 with players grouped by grades (e.g. Grade 1/2, Grade 3/4). BGYL competes in the Founders Girls Lacrosse League (FGLL). We attempt to balance skill levels across all teams (e.g., no "A" or "B" team) and we attempt to give all players even playing time, regardless of skill or ability. The practice schedule is:

1/2: For 1st and 2nd grade girls:

• Practices are on Monday and Wednesday from 6:00-7:00 PM

• Games are played on Sundays against other teams in the FGLL

• Smaller field is used with 8 players (7 + optional goalie)

3/4: For 3rd and 4th grade girls:

• Practices are on Monday and Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 PM

• Games are played on Sundays against other teams in the FGLL

• Smaller field is used with 8 players (7 + a required goalie)

5/6: For 5th and 6th grade girls:

• Practices are on Monday and Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 PM

• Games are played on Sundays against other teams in the FGLL

• Full-field is used with 12 players (11 + a required goalie)

7/8: For 7th and 8th grade girls:

• Practices are on Monday and Wednesday evenings 6:00-7:30 PM

• Games are played on Sundays against other teams in the FGLL

• Full-field is used with 12 players (11 + a required goalie)

Select League:

The FGLL Select League is a competitive program for grades 5/6 and 7/8 and requires a tryout in February or March (dates TBD). Minimal to no additional practices are required and games are on Friday evenings. Playing time may NOT be equal for games. Players must play for the Classic League (practices and games) to play for the Select League. A paid tryout is required and there is an additional registration fee to participate.

FEES

Brookline Rec sets the participation fee. For Spring 2025 the fees are:

• Pre-K/K Program: $155

• Classic League $225

• Select League is an additional fee of approximately $125 (2025 league rates TBD)
